  • Trudy Buckman was employed by me at Goodlands Builders Merchants shortly after I led a management buy-out in 1987. At that time Goodlands had no computer installation and accounting and invoicing were a manual operation; consequently at the time there were no effective controls or ratios for either the sales ledger or inventory.

    Trudy took on the responsibility for the computerisation of the sales invoicing and sales ledges control. Once up and running she was appointed Credit Control Manager with a small team responsible for controlling the sales ledger for a business with sales in excess of £12M.

    During the eight years in the role the level of bad debts as a percentage of sales reduced by in excess of 50% and outstanding debt in relation to credit sales halved to a level where the ratio was as good as the best in the industry.

    Trudy was an excellent and cheerful manager, with a team she trained well. She had an excellent rapport with all sales staff and management in Goodlands as well as all customers, be they good or bad payers.

  • I have known Trudy Buckman both as a work colleague and a friend for over 15 years.
